"The book is grotesque, violent, haunting, perverse and harrowing — and very good. You may be repelled, you may be shocked, you will almost certainly be horrified, but you will read every last word." Robert Goolrick, The Washington Post
This pretty much sums it up. Once you dive into this violent and shocking depiction of the Midwest from the 1940s to the 1960s you will not be able to put it down. The first novel by D.R Pollock (after working for decades in a slaughterhouse and a paper mill he made his literary debut with an acclaimed collection of short stories) is a vividly told story that perfectly intertwines the destinies of fascinating characters through the years.
